ICE - "In Case of Emergency"
"ICE" is catching on and it's a very simple method of contact for you or a loved one in case of an emergency. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is program the number of a contact person and store the name as "ICE," (meaning, in case of emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents, there was usually a cell phone with the patient, but they didn't know which number to call. The idea is to store the word "ICE" in your cell phone address book and with it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted in case of an emergency. This would allow emergency personnel and hospital staff to quickly contact that individual by dialing the number programmed under "ICE". For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc. Following the disaster in London, a national "ICE" campaign was launched in Great Britain, so this idea is growing on a global scale.
