National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) is being observed April 22–28, 2012. This year’s theme—Extending the Vision: Reaching Every Victim—is a call to action to revisit, revive, and expand the vision of the crime victims’ movement to reach all victims, including victims of new and emerging crimes resulting from changes in technology, globalization, and the demographics of our society. This commemorative week has been set aside since 1981 to honor crime victims and the first responders, advocates, counselors, and others who assist them in their time of need, and the law enforcement personnel who work to bring offenders to justice.

One of our very own, Martha Aquilar, was given the Advocate of the Year Award on June 22, 2011 by Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock and County Attorney Scott Twito. The award is given to 2-3 people each year to recognize their work with crime victims. It was said that “Aquilar’s dedication to her job has helped make Yellowstone County’s victim support program successful.”

On June 10, 2011, employees participated in the March of Dimes “Bowling for Babies” Fundraiser, raising $537.00. Way to go team and great shirts!

Employees bundled up in their rain gear to brave the weather and interstate to run in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on May 9, 2011. The office raised over $1,500 for this great cause!!
