Abuse & Neglect Division

The Abuse and Neglect Division provides for the protection of children whose health and welfare may be adversely affected and threatened by the conduct of those responsible for the children’s care and protection. Whenever possible, this is done in the family environment to preserve the unity and welfare of the family unit. Removal of a child from their family is done only after an investigation, and there is reasonable cause to suspect that the child is in imminent risk of harm. These cases are also referred to as youth in need of care cases.

To report a possible case of child abuse or neglect, call toll free 1-866-820-5437.
